The Federation of Associations of Ghanaian Exporters (FAGE) was formed on the 15th April, 1992, to respond to the long-felt need for a unified, strong and credible organization to serve as an advocate of the private sector in exports. The formation of FAGE was also viewed as a means of addressing problems and weaknesses affecting export development at the firm level.
The establishment of FAGE resulted from the efforts of several export product associations with the assistance the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), and the Government of Ghana (GOG) acting through the Ministries of Finance (MOF) and the Ministry of Trade and Industries (MOTI) and the Ghana Export Promotion Council (GEPC). The Federation, which is registered as a company limited by guarantee under the Companies Code of Ghana, (Act 179, 1963) operates as a not-for-profit organization.
